Skin Concern >>Excessive Sweating

Axillary hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive “underarm sweating”. We all have some amount of armpit sweating, but a small percentage of the population has axillary hyperhidrosis which involves extreme, dripping sweat in the armpit area. This type of sweating is resistant to regular types of deodorants.

Excessive sweating around the armpit area typically begins around puberty and can be a life long social impairment.  Nowadays dermatologists can treat this condition using Botox in the armpit areas.  (You may have heard about this treatment on the news as many celebrities get Botox in their underarms for their weddings and "red carpet" engagements). In this treatment, the injections of Botox into the underarm area minimizes sweat production on a temporary basis (3-4 months). It can be a good solution for people who need it during certain times of their life.
