Acne & Acne Scarring
Although acne is often thought of as a teenage problem, many of us continue to have blemishes for many years beyond. Stress, heredity, and hormonal fluctuations contribute to acne flares. Deeper acne bumps and cysts can result in prolonged redness and pitted scarring. Untreated acne can result in permanent scarring. A combination of customized home-care products and in-office treatments can improve the texture of your skin and eliminate breakouts. More severe acne can benefit from oral medications that are prescribed by a dermatologist. While there is no cure for acne, our extensive team of specialists can help keep your acne under control and minimize breakouts.
What is Photodynamic Acne Treatment?
While there are many medications on the market to treat acne, we offer a new treatment that doesn't rely upon medications. BLU-U Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy utilizes a special blue light that destroys acne-causing bacteria that grow in your skin. The treatment is simple as you merely sit with your face, chest or back close to the light. This safe and effective method is also pain-free, and your acne may be clear for up to 6-9 months after the completion of treatment. The BLU-U is a special blue light that can kill the p.acnes bacteria in your skin and was cleared by the FDA in 2003 for the treatment of moderate inflammatory acne.
What is an Acne Facial?
At our Medi Spa under the supervision of our board certified dermatologist an acne facial lasts for 60 minutes and is designed especially to help and treat acne and minimize future breakouts.
