Dermapen Microneedling Rejuvenation

What is Microneedling / Skin Needling?

Skin needling is a recently embraced technology in the US, however it has been performed successfully in Europe for years now. The treatment actually dates back to 1995 but has gained significant traction in recent years thanks to advances in microneedling technology. The minimally invasive treatment can be used all over the body—from scalp to ankles—to improve the appearance of scars, boost collagen, or encourage hair growth. It's also a standard treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and stretch marks.

How Does Microneedling Work?

The concept is simple, we create micro wounds on the surface of the skin with small needles and the body responds by making collagen and new skin.  Depending on the depth of the needle, we can help improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks and even acne scarring.

Is Microneedling Better Than Laser Rejuvenation?

We are often asked by our clients if microneedling can replace laser or photofacial treatments.  Microneedling is a very different technology than lasers and it depends on both the patient's skin type and the condition being treated in order to determine if microneedling is the best option. Many of our clients begin with laser rejuvenation and then maintain their results with Microneedling.  But it is best to start with a complimentary consultation to discover if microneedling is the best treatment for you.

Is Microneedling Painful?

The treatments are very superficial and require nothing more than topical numbing creams. Our clients have found that the treatments feel like a strong microdermabrasion and the recovery time is just a couple days at the most. Many clients go back to work the same day with just a little extra makeup.

Who Does The Procedure?

As this procedure involves the usage of needles penetrating the skin, only licensed RNs are allowed to perform microneedling. You may discover other centers allow estheticians to perform microneedling, however this both against the law in the state of California and not in your best interest. At Kalia Dermatology only licensed RNs supervised by a board certified dermatologist conduct these procedures.
