Laser Skin Resurfacing

Nothing is as beautiful as smooth, glowing, flawless skin. Unfortunately, nobody’s skin can escape the ravages of time. Skin loses its natural elasticity, the sun makes your complexion blotchy or uneven, and fine lines start to become more noticeable. At Kalia Dermatology and Laser Center in Los Gatos, California, we offer fractional laser skin resurfacing treatments to help patients from the San Francisco Bay area turn back time.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing works by delivering precision light beams into the dermis of your skin to stimulate collagen growth and tighten underlying tissues. Kalia physicians use state-of-the-art fractional laser technology that uses focused microbeams of light that penetrate deeply into the dermis than other types of lasers, giving you more effective, longer-lasting results. As the heated skin begins a healing process to form new healthy tissue, you’ll see smoother, more youthful skin with fewer wrinkles, age spots, and flaws.

Kalia Dermatology and Laser Center features the newest, most advanced fractional lasers, which come with the added advantage of less recovery time, less pain, and reduced downtime.  Kalia offers many different laser technologies, which can address the varying needs of their patients.

Which Areas Of The Body Can Be Treated By Laser Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is most commonly used to treat facial skin, including perceived problem areas like age-related wrinkles around the mouth and eyes. The procedure can also be used to rejuvenate the skin on many other parts of your body, including your neck, chest, back, arms, and hands.

Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Right For Me?

Although laser skin resurfacing won’t completely erase every flaw, it can correct or drastically improve the appearance of a variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Leathery, sun-damaged skin
  • Age spots (also known as solar lentigines)
  • Surfaces scars: Such as those caused by acne
  • Blotchy, uneven skin tone or texture

Laser skin resurfacing isn’t suitable for everyone, however, your physician may advise you to avoid the treatment if any of the following apply:

  • You’ve taken the acne medication isotretinoin recently
  • Your face has ever undergone radiation therapy
  • You’re pregnant or nursing

Are There Any Side Effects?

Laser skin resurfacing may cause you to experience mild swelling and redness in the treated area. The downtime can range from a few hours to an entire week depending on the laser procedure you select with your Kalia physician.
